Important Note

Note:  This test is not indicated for test of cure or clearance testing. Order stool culture and/or antigen testing if test of cure testing is required.
 

Effective 2/5/2024: The manufacturer notified us that positive (detected) norovirus results are potentially false positives. We are calling all norovirus positives “indeterminate” and reflexing samples for confirmation until the manufacturer has resolved this issue. This reflex confirmation test will be at no further charge.

Specimen Type/Requirements

Orange Cap Para-Pak C&S (Cary Blair Transport Media) - Stool

Stool is added to reach the fill line on the transport conatiner. 

 

 

Note:  Stool must be added to Cary Blair Media within 2 hours of collection.  Stool must also be transferred to Cary Blair Media prior to being sent to the laboratory for testing. 

 

Note:  Endoscopically collected specimens are unacceptable and will be rejected.
