Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum (preferred)
Light Green top (Lithium Heparin w/gel) tube - Plasma
Serum/plasma should be removed from gel separator or cells within 8 hours.
Test is affected by gross hemolysis and gross lipemia.

This test code is to be used in conjunction with the Cortrosyn (ACTH) Stimulation Test per your facility’s protocol.
Drugs causing falsely elevated results include: Corticosterone, 11-deoxycorticosterone, Fludrocortisone, Prednisolone, and Hydrocortisone (pharmaceutical cortisol).
