Specimen Type/Requirements
Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum (Preferred)
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Light green is not acceptable for the reflex to MMA.
Specimen should be centrifuged and separated within 2 hours of collection.
Test may be affected by ANY hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia.
Avoid more than 1 freeze/thaw cycle.

Additional Information
This test will reflex to Methylmalonic Acid (BLOD0103) at an additional cost if Vitamin B12 is <300 pg/mL.
