Specimen Type/Requirements

Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube, Serum

Allow Serum Separator Tube to clot for 2 hours at room temperature or overnight at 4° Celsius before centrifugation for 15 minutes at approximately 1000xg.  Freeze serum immediately after centrifugation.

Patient must be fasting 10-12 hours prior to collection.  Patient should not be on any medications that may influence Insulin levels, if possible, for at least 48 hours prior to collection.

Note: Samples submitted wihtout two unique identifiers and date of collection will be rejected.

Test is not affected by hemolysis, lipemia or icterus.
