Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Specimen must be collected before (or 72 hours after) any manipulation of the prostate.
This test requires its own frozen aliquot.
PSA cannot be an add-on test due to short room temperature stability.
Test may be affected by gross hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia. Specimen should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection.
