Specimen Type/Requirements
Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Whole blood or plasma
Gold top (Serum w/ gel) tube - Serum
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Sterile specimen container for CSF, Amniotic fluid, urine or Broncoalveolar lavage (BAL), Eye fluid or 3 mm frozen fresh tissue
Separate plasma/serum from cells within 2 hours of collection
Indicate source on specimen and requisition.
Reject Criteria-Heparinized specimens, unspun PPT tube, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue.
Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.
