Light Green top (Lithium Heparin w/gel) tube - Plasma

Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum

Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum

 

Note: Specimen should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection.  It is recommended to wait 24-36 hours post-blood transfusion to collect iron studies.
 
Test is affected by gross hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia.
